Correction (বাক্য ও ক্রিয়ার শুদ্ধিকরণ)
Correction অংশে একটি বাক্যের ভুল অংশ খুঁজে শুদ্ধ করতে হয়। ভুল সাধারণত হয় চারটি জায়গায়—Subject-Verb Agreement (কর্তা-ক্রিয়ার সংগতি), Right Form of Verb (ক্রিয়ার শুদ্ধ রূপ), Article/Determiner এবং Preposition। নিয়মগুলো জানলে অধিকাংশ ভুল যুক্তি দিয়েই ধরা যায়।
বিজেএসে ‘which part has an error’ বা ‘choose the correct sentence’—এই ধরনের প্রশ্ন প্রচুর আসে। এই অধ্যায় ভালোভাবে আয়ত্ত করলে English অংশে বড় সুবিধা পাওয়া যায়।
বিজেএসে এই অধ্যায়ের গুরুত্ব
Right form of verb ও Subject-verb agreement থেকে সবচেয়ে বেশি প্রশ্ন আসে। মূল কৌশল—Subject singular না plural তা আগে চিহ্নিত করা, তারপর tense/structure অনুযায়ী verb-এর শুদ্ধ রূপ বসানো।

Subject-Verb Agreement (কর্তা-ক্রিয়ার সংগতি)
Subject singular হলে verb singular, plural হলে verb plural হবে। কিন্তু কিছু বিশেষ নিয়ম আছে, যেখানে ভুল বেশি হয়।

‘and’ যুক্ত subject
- দুই ভিন্ন subject ‘and’ দিয়ে যুক্ত → plural verb (Rahim and Karim are friends);
- কিন্তু একই ভাব বোঝালে → singular (Rice and curry is my favourite);
- ‘The number of’ → singular; ‘A number of’ → plural—দুটো গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
Right Form of Verb (ক্রিয়ার শুদ্ধ রূপ)
Tense, subject ও structure অনুযায়ী verb-এর রূপ বদলায়। নিচের মূল নিয়মগুলো মনে রাখুন।

Conditional ও বিশেষ গঠন
কিছু বিশেষ গঠনে নির্দিষ্ট verb-রূপ বসে—এগুলো থেকে প্রায়ই প্রশ্ন আসে।

- ‘If’-clause-এ কখনো ‘will/would’ বসে না;
- ‘It is high time’, ‘wish’, ‘as if’ + past tense;
- ‘would rather’, ‘had better’, modal + base verb।
Article ও Preposition ভুল
Article (a/an/the) ও Preposition-এর ভুল থেকেও নিয়মিত প্রশ্ন আসে। উচ্চারণ ও নির্দিষ্ট idiom-ভিত্তিক ব্যবহার মনে রাখুন।

Correction-এর নিশ্চিত উপায়—আগে subject খুঁজে singular/plural ঠিক করা, তারপর structure দেখে verb/article/preposition যাচাই করা। নিচে কয়েকটি উদাহরণ ধাপে ধাপে দেখানো হলো।

- Subject ‘Each of the students’—মূল কর্তা ‘Each’, যা singular।
- singular subject-এর সঙ্গে singular verb ‘is’ বসবে।

‘If I was a bird, I would fly.’ — শুদ্ধ করুন।
